CRYSTAL FOREST
January 2014 the Polar Jet Stream dipped down into the US in an atypical pattern. The resulting Polar Vortex, a series of complex and interconnected patterns in the large scale climatic system, caused air temperatures in the US to plummet. In a span of 24 hours, the temperature in Pittsburgh dropped from 51F to -12F.


Water which existed on the inside of most windows, which had condensed from the air and deposited itself onto the inside glass surfaces froze quickly into ice crystals.
